Poha is a very basic quick and easy recipe from Maharastra. Its widely made all over India with many variations. You can enjoy it asa breakfast or brunch or even as a snack. Its nutritious. You can also add boiled vegitables of your choice in it.


Poha(flattened rice) 1 cup
Oil 2 tsp
Onion 1 no.
Tomato 1 no.
Green Chilly 1 no.
Mustard seeds ½ tsp
Curry leaves 5-6 no.
Tomato ketchup(optional) 1 tsp
Green chilly sauce(optional) 1 tsp
Salt to taste
Chilly powder ½ tsp
Turmeric powder ½ tsp

Wash the poha under running water for few times and drain all water.Mix it once so that it does not stick to each other and Keep it aside.

Heat oil in a non-stick pan add curry leaves, when they are done add mustard seeds and let them splatter. Now add Poha to it.

Add dry spices(salt, chilly powder, turmeric powder) and also add chopped green chilly. Mix them all very well, so that the poha is well coated with all spices.

Cook for 1 min and add finely chopped onion and tomato.

Cook covered for another 1 min and then add Tomato ketchup and chilly sauce.

Cook for ½ minute and you are done.

Serve it hot.
